EDIT: here's the realm sketch:
alright, still need a scenario but that comes after we get characters. what do you think?
and, here's a sketch of a world map. i would have actually drawn more than an outline, but its hard to draw on the comp with a mouse and i was too lazy to do it on paper and scan it. maybe later.
EDIT: here's the realm sketch:
It was a time of wonders in Hir'kesn. After centuries of wars, Elfkind had finally established peace between itself and its neighbors. The three kingdoms had finally been unified; the Humans, Elves, and Dwarves. In the year 4068 of the Second Age, they accepted the Ershain, a document written to create law between them. The High Counsel, representing rulers from each domain, had declared the time of war and mistrust to be over. They brought the world into the Third Age.
Now it is 683. After a few centuries of peace and universal contentment, everything was falling apart. The High Council had shattered, and each domain again kept completely to itself. For the past few decades, none of the commerce and communication has existed between races. They are suspicious, once again, of each other; for the Elves, this is not the greatest trouble. Within their own nation, there is massive destruction. One by one, the territories were falling into darkness. Anarchy reigned as elitist groups of renegade 'Dark Elves' marauded the countryside.
The Dark Elf is a terrible creature indeed. Since the beginning of Time, Elves have been gifted with a natural talent for Magic. For example, they can pour life into a wilting flower and help it regrow. For the most part, their Magic is usable only for good. However, a shadowy cult known as Djarni strayed to far off the course. According to the legend, Djarni was a quite normal elf. However, he it seemed to him that the Glade (the Elves' main governing body) were restricting Magic, which he saw as not just a quality of life but a powerful tool that could be used to farther such fields as science, or even warfare. When he plead his cause to the Glade, they forbade him from continuing his research. He grew very angry, and, after nearly killing a member of the Glade (albeit on accident), he was banished to the Kershas, a desolate, dark land where no normal life could exist. It is a swampy, toxic wasteland; no creature of the Light can survive there. The Elves thought the problem resolved, but not it seems Djarni has gone insane, losing his soul to his studies. Beginning with simple necromancy, he has become a fallen Dark Elf.
After some period of time he began to search for followers. Whenever he attacked a city, he gained more from whatever Elves were desperate enough to join him in order to preserve their own life. Dark clouds hang over the kingdom of the Elves; only a few territories remain intact, and it does not seem they have long. The border of the Kershas is spreading as the life is seemingly sucked out of the land... it is the End.
