"Sectumsempra!"
The cat shrieked and clawed aimlessly at the air, three great gashes scratching themselves into its belly. The boy watched with immense pleasure as the animal's soft white fur became mottled with red. Blood seeped out, puddling near the edge of the table before finally spilling over onto the floor. The cat's screeching grew quieter, signaling its impending death. Severus raised his wand and slowly passed it over the animal, while he muttered, "Vulnera Sanentur." The bleeding slowed. "Vulnera Sanentur." The open flesh began to close. "Vulnera Sanentur."
He stood over the cat, studying the wounds closely. The worst effects of the curse were gone. The test was a success! The feline still might die from loss of blood, however, and it would probably always be scarred, unless he applied Dittany. But the plant was rare, and Severus didn't want to waste his small supply of it on some animal. The third year owner of the cat would just have to wonder where the scars came from.
Severus unstrapped the pet and it hissed at him, weakly jumping from the table. The sight of it dragging itself pathetically to the door almost made him laugh. He picked up the cat and left his dorm room. It didn't take too long to find its owner. The small Hufflepuff girl's wails could be heard even in the dungeons. Severus followed the crying all the way to the school's entry hall. The third year was in a corner, sobbing so much her eyes had become faucets. He walked to her, unceremoniously dumped the cat in her lap, and wandered off before seeing her reaction. At least her howling stopped.

Lily could already feel the blood rush to her face as she stumbled into the entry hall of the school. The whole walk from the Library had been one big mentle battle for the girl. Was she to get mad about him lying to her or just get over it like she should? It was a truely complicated matter but Lily knew what would happen. She would be mad, furious until she saw what her temper could make her do. But she didn't care. She was far to angry to do the smart and logical thing at the moment. How could someone that she trusted do profoundly lie to her face so easily?
Her fit of anger was stopped for a moment though when she heard somber sobs. Lily looked around eagerly to find the sourse and when she did, she felt all the anger that she had bottled up inside of her vanish. It was a young Hufflepuff girl who was holding a white cat upon her lap.
"What's wrong?" She said , putting a comforing arm around the girls shoulders. The girl looked up, her brown eyes filled with tears.
"I though I lost my cat, but some Slytherin boy brought her back. It looks terribly sick. "
Lily motioned for the girl to let her take a closer look at the animal. The girl was right, it looked very ill and weak. Something was done to the cat and someone had to be punished. Lily looked back down at the girl and gave her a gentle squeeze. "Take the cat to the Hospital Wing. I know that it is meant for humans but I am sure that they have something for her." The younger girl nodded and turned to leave, not saying a word, but before she could go far Lily stopped her.
"What did the Slytherin look like? The one that returned your cat?"
The Hufflepuff girl stopped, trying to recall what he had looked like. It was hard to remember at first because she was in such a state of shock, luckily, she remembered.
"He was slighly dirty looking, geasy black hair. Oh and he had a rather long nose. Between you and me, he wasn't very attrac-"
"Which way did he go?" Lily already knew who it was by the time she said 'greasy' so there was little need to let her finish her discribe him. And when she pointed in the direction, Lily walked away.
Looking down the corridor she called out for someone that used to be her dear friend. Someone she used to love. The word stabbing a knife in her hear with each letter.
"Snape!"

Severus Snape was known to be an extremely cold, unfriendly person. He was unattractive and quiet, and when he did speak, it was almost always rude or sarcastic. The only people he could really talk to civilly and without suspicion were teachers, but even so, Snape knew he was more adept than most of them. He barely listened to others’ opinions, if at all, and disliked everybody.
Except one.
"Snape!"
Only one person’s voice, ringing down the hall, had the ability to shoot thrilling sparks up his spine, send prickles of exhilaration across his skin, and make his chest pulse with yearning and remorse. Lily…
(ooc: Awwwww!……… Wait, what? *breaks out of cheesy moment*)
”What do you want, Evans?” he called back to her, sounding a little more harsh than he had meant to. Severus refused to look back at her, aware that doing so would cause him to lose his stoicalness. He couldn’t even glance at the red head without some sort of unwanted emotion crossing his features. It was best just not to look at her at all, and so he walked on. She’d follow and badger him about whatever it was, anyway. She probably had discovered the case of the cursed cat. Severus groaned internally. Explaining that would be an easy lie, but there was no telling if Lily would believe it.
(ooc: And stoicalness IS a word, thank you very much.)

The fact that he didn't even have the nerve to face her, send harsh whisks of anger down he spine. Who did he honestly think he was? Whoever it was, Lily didn't want to know. She had enough of trying to get him to be the person she knew him to be.
Lily Evans once loved Snape as a dear brother. She looked up to the fact that he was brilliant and so willing to share his knowledge of the Magical world with her. He was he lighted beckon in such a cruel and judgemental time. Being a vocal muggleborn always directed attention from people who wished to harm you, but Lily was never afraid. She had her best friend by her side. That's why she stuck around for so long. But he shattered her trust in a way that no one could possibly see. And now, after all that happened between them, he didn't even have the moral decency to look at her?
She picked up speed so that she could catch up to him but she knew Snape far too well. That would not be enough to grasp his attention. Lily forced herself in front of him so that she had to walk backwards. This was, and Lily knew it, bound to be a disaster. She was not known for being the most graceful of creatures on planet Earth.
"What did you do to the cat?" She didn't even bother giving him the benefit of the doubt this time. Though, in the back of her head she pleaded for him to give a good excuse to why he did nothing to the poor animal. She, after all the things that had happened, knew that he was a good person. All he needed to a chance to prove it.

"Yeah, mate, don't worry about it," Peter repeated, slightly annoyed that James had cut him off. He knew that James would never interrupt Sirius, and that he usually even had the decency to let the "Transsexual from the Gods" finish his sentence. Why was Peter so different? Why did they all think, not just James, that they could walk all over him? Well, yes, they probably thought that because they had on several occasions, and it wasn't as if he'd protested at all, really, but others didn't push him around even though they very well could've.
Maybe it was just because the Marauders were the big kids on the playground. Peter reminded himself that he should just be glad he was looking at the group from the inside.
"Good," James answered, standing up and shaking his legs to ease his trouser legs down. Just because it had been stamped temporarily un-gay for the day didn't mean he wanted to advertise it. He put his glasses back on, the first thing he saw clearly were the girls across the Lake. They were dipping their feet in the water, and he was forcibly reminded of Lily Evans, a gash across his cheek, soap spewing from Snivellus's mouth, and the repression of rejection. He shook his head, as if he could shake the memories from his head by the action. James briefly wondered if he'd put that memory in a Pensieve if he had the chance.
Not a chance.
He ruffled his hair from habit rather than actual nerves. Eager to distract himself and to not spend the entire day gossiping by the Lake, he eyed the Marauders with a glint in his eye. "That Muggle game? You know, that we played last year, with the flag? And the two teams? What's that called again?"
Peter suppressed a groan. He always lost these games. Why couldn't they ever play Gobstones?

After packing up her massive mess from the Library desk, Anna Marie Watson exited the room, not bothering to put any of the books she borrowed back to their correct places. She didn't see the need since other students were just going to pull them out again anyways, she saw it as being nice to her peers. She ignored the frantic protests of Madame Pince as the door behind he was closing behind her, Anna couldn't help but smirk.
When she reached the Entry Hall of Hogwarts, she looked outside and noticed that it was a beautiful day outside. There was no need to putter around the castle, for it was always a good idea to take full advantage nice days while in Scotland. You didn't know when the next day was going to be like that. Anna liked that. She never had to plan things out the day before, the weather gave her an excuse to simply go with the flow. The girl was a firm believer in: "You live, you learn." To her, life was given to make the best out of and not to be planned around.
When she felt the warmth of the intoxicating rays of sun, she inhaled, taking in the moment before wondering over to the Quidditch Pitch. It was too nice of a day not to have a quick fly. It would be a disgrace to the art of the sport and Watts would not be able to stand the grief.

Lily was walking backwards in front of him now, demanding a confrontation. Knowing that she was a bit of a klutz and that this wasn't going to end well for her, a small smile began to creep up the corners of his mouth. Catching himself, he forced it away and replaced the grin with a scowl.
Severus noted the accusation in her voice. "What I did to that cat was save it from an untimely death," he said, answering her question. It was the truth, technically; she didn't need to know he had also been causing that death. "Really, you should be thanking me."

Ooc: sorry for the really short Remus part. I just wanted to keep the Marauders moving.
Remus waited for Sirius to reply but when nothing came from his mouth, he jumped in with the answer. "It is called Capture the flag, Mate. But do you really think that it is wise to play it right now?" Being the teachers pet that he was, Remus looked over his shoulder, feeling as his the Transfiguration Professor was just around the corner, waiting to give them detention. "If the teachers saw us we would get in trouble. And I only say that because I know that one of you tossers will get violent." He let out a playful laugh to stress the fact that he did not truly believe that James and Sirius were tossers.
The red head let out a sigh in response to Snape's reply. She was really praying that he was going to give her some heart felt reason or excuse but all he received was a half truth.
Now, Lily Evans was known for being a person who would see past anyone's lies in hopes that there is an aspect of truth. She is also known for seeing the best in someone even though others would say that the individual didn't deserve it. But Lily was mentally drained when it came to one Severus Snape. There would always be a place in her heart for him and him alone but at this moment in time, being young and temperamental, Lily had that place empty and locked up.
"Snape, I am tired of your lies and your apathetic nature! You really are a dark person aren't you?" And with that, the flustered and red faced girl turned around.
Now, the exit that Miss Evans was going for was something a little more meaningful and something that would leave Slytherin boy thinking about her words. Something Climatic. What Lily got was something almost completely different.
When Lily Evans turned around on her heel, she found herself a little too acquainted with a suit of armor. A loud crash erupted from the metal as it tumbled to the ground.
Lily blinked.
The red on Lily's face grew even more vibrant, and she felt so warm the quickly pulled out her want, repaired what she broke and ran outside.
She inhaled sharply with her eyes closed as she leaned up against a stone statue. All she felt was more heat. So she headed towards the Black Lake. I need to cool down.
But on her way there Lily saw two problems.
One. Lizzy was on one side of Lake. Lily had thought that Lizzy had liked her but as of late, the blonde girl that not been very kind to her.
Two. The Marauders were on the other side. She knew that those boys would do everything in their power to cause her even more distress.
She paused and weighed her options for a second and opted to be more in the middle and hoped that everyone would leave her alone.
Lily slipped off her shoes when she was close to the waters edge and gently stepped into the water with her eyes closed. She took a moment to breathe in the cooler air.
These were the times that Lily loved the most. Times that she felt at peace. Like she escape the constant judging watch of others. Though Lily could hear others around her, she felt like she was alone for the moment being. She pulled off the blue hair tie that constantly held her hair in a tight up-do and let the long silky red mane drape around her shoulders.
Silence.

"Snape, I am tired of your lies and your apathetic nature! You really are a dark person aren't you?"
Severus flinched when she spoke. Not because she accused him of lying. Not because she called him apathetic and dark. She called him Snape.
It wasn't the first time, and he knew it wouldn't be the last. Nonetheless, everytime it was a stab in the heart, like someone had decided that taking a knife and twisting it into a bloke's chest repeatedly would be fun. He longed for the days when the two of them sat beneath the trees, talking about magic, and she would call him "Sev."
Sev. Lily. ...What happened?
The Marauders happened. Them, and Severus's own dark aspiration to be the greatest wizard to walk the earth, even if it meant turning to forbidden magic. The Dark Arts tore them apart. And regardless, Severus knew he would just run to it again like a child to his mother. For comfort, for diversion. Anything to keep his mind off the girl in front of him. Why does it have to be this way?
Lily spun harshly away from him. Even after seeing her collide with a suit of armor, Severus didn't feel like laughing. He didn't feel anything much. Just anguish as he watched her run away.
