Alright! SO...
This is all an idea for a phan phiction. So don't ANY of you dare try and turn it into a phan phiction of your own! I will FIND it, and I will KNOW it's you, and I will personally sic all the DBCA girls on you!! BWHAHA! That's right. Be afraid.
ANYWAY...So, the actual background story and plot line for the phan phiction is REALLY long and REALLY detailed. I wanted to put it all of it up, but doing that would all of you absolutely NO room for character flexibility and adding in your own stuff. So, I'll give a more basic outline for ya'll to follow, so you can actually have FUN with your characters.
Oh, and remember, this is modern day.
Background Story:
Erik, Don Juan and top student of his senior class, landed the leading male role in his town's youth production of The Phantom of the Opera. (Sorry. Only musical I could find with both leading female and male roles that everyone would be familiar with.) During the last performance, when the chandier falls, something went wrong. Instead of swinging safely over the audience's heads, the chandlier's rope broke and it went plummeting to the stage, creating a fire, and instantly killing all performers.
Except one.
Once extremely handsome, half of Erik's face was burnt and scared from that fire. He were merely in a coma when the doctors pronounced the boy dead. The placed his "lifeless" body beneath the theatre (written in his will was the wish that he be buried where he died, exactly as he died) and left him there to rest in peace.
Seven years later, thanks to a group of thespian youth, the town reconstructs the old, burnt theatre. Bullietins are posted announcing the upcoming auditions for the musical The Sound of Music, whose opening night would also be the theatre's Grand Re-Opening. While parents are against this whole ordeal, fearing that their students could be killed much like last time, the town's youth line up to sign the audition sheet anyhow.
Plot Line to Follow:
Well, BASICALLY, follow the movie line as CLOSE as you can, but make it modern, and there will be a few changes here and there, as you will see. I decided to base it off the movie because not everyone has read the book(s). Here's a few pointers...
Kristy Day is an orphan, 17, and not a performer, but she decides to give it a try. Her friend Ruth (who is pretty much "Meg" and "Raoul" combined into one person) decides to join her as a "techie", building sets and managing backstage.
Meanwhile, after seven years of sleeping, Erik awakens. DUN DUN DUN! (And there's this whole thing about him, but you don't need to hear it because you'll see it unfold in the rp.)
Kristy auditions, and ends up getting the part of a chorus girl. She doesn't mind, and is happy with the part she gets. A snotty girl from her school, Caroline, gets the lead part of Maria.
A few chorus girls and techies begin catching glimpses of a dark ghost like figure wandering about the theatre during rehersals. They nickname him "The Phantom of the Theatre" and like to say that he's the spirit of the boy who played the Phantom who died that fateful night. They don't realize how close they are to the truth.
In short terms, Kristy ends up getting voice lessons from Erik (we'll deal with how this happens in the rp), Caroline receives a note from T.G., gets ill, Ruth recommends that Kristy take Caroline's place, which she does, making the opening show of The Sound of Music a big hit. Ruth wants to hang out with Kristy, Kristy says she can't (*coughBECAUSEOFERIKcough*). Ruth leaves, Erik kidnaps Kristy, Ruth comes back, "WTF? Where's Kristy?"
And, well, you know what happens. Just follow the movie plotline.
The last performance of The Sound of Music, a curious and prying techie named Joseph becomes an ATTEMPTED murder victim (*coughERIK'SDOINGcough*). He doesn't actually DIE. That would be too violent haha. People freak out none the less, and Kristy and Ruth escape...somewhere. But whereever they go, Erik follows and overhears Kristy telling Ruth about her little trip to Erik's house and how terrifying and hidious her "Angel of Music" is. He disappears after this and no one finds any sign of the "Phantom of the Theatre" for a while.
The theatre decides to throw a Halloween party. Everyone goes, and Erik shows up, of course. At some point in time, he commands the managers to perform The Phantom of the Opera next, with Kristy as the lead role of Christine Daae. How could they say no?
Ruth is suspisious, Kristy is frightened, and so is the rest of the cast. Ruth confronts Mrs. Giry, the techie instructor person, about Erik. (Mrs. Giry was there when the whole chandlier accident happened and what not. She knows practically EVERYTHING, because she's cool like that. xD)
Continuing on, (how could we make a fight scene between Ruth and Erik? LOL!)
Alrighty, so, during the performance of The Phantom of the Opera, Erik knocks out the guy playing the Phantom and takes his place during the "Angel of Music (reprise)" scene, where the Phantom leads Christine away through the mirror. Kristy and Erik go through the set mirror, but never come out the other side. They've disappeared! (GASP!) People begin freaking out again. Erik leads Kristy away to his house beneath the theatre again, proclaiming his love for her, and saying she must stay with him or everyone in the theatre dies (DUN DUN DUN!) Kristy must make a choice.
Meanwhile, Ruth goes to rescue Kristy.
And that's where I leave it! The rest will happen in the rp!
And I don't care if the ending is like the one in the movie or not. We'll have to see what happens to Ruth, and what Kristy's choice will be. *winks*
OK! Now that I have THAT finished (golly, took forEVER...),
Characters! (originals welcome, if you can actually come up with any that would have a significant part):
Kristy Day: Kileen "Garden Weed"
Ruth: Heather "Sunny"
Erik: Me (unless someone else REALLLLY wants to play him)
Mrs. Giry: Chelsea "moony"
Side Characters for doubles or triples, mainly, if someone wants to specifically play one or more. Otherwise, they'll be played by everyone.
Caroline:
Paul ("Piangi"):
Joseph:
The managers:
Uhhh, anyone else?
Originals if there are any, which I highly doubt.
