"Malfoy, Tiffany!" The thin-lipped witch announced. She held a scroll listing off all the new witches and wizards that needed to be sorted. Tiffany shuffled up to the stool and hoisted herself up onto it. She could hear the students in the Great Hall whispering to each other and pointed in her direction. She stared at the cracks in the tiled floor of the raised area in which her stool stood. The witch set a tattered hat upon her head and the whole hall went silent. She could tell all eyes were on her, especially Draco's. She could sense his stare, she knew he was chanting the name of his own house in his head. "You're a little late dearie." said the hat's voice inside her consciousness. "I expected you last year...but I suppose you're parents didn't find you...ready...to carry on their Slytherin legacy eh?" Tiffany didn't say a word. She knew it was right. Her whole family had been in Slytherin. She was expected to follow in line. After all, she's promised to not disgrace her family with her contradictory opinions of their way of life in return for permission to come to Hogwarts. "Your heart isn't cold like his was." The hat continued. "You are far more complicated..." She looked up, she could tell Draco was getting nervous, he knew she wasn't quite Slytherin material. "I think I'll put you..." The hat thought for a second. "GRYFFINDOR!"
Tiffany's face went paler then her normal porcelain complexion. She heard the hall start an uproar of whispering. "Why isn't she in Slytherin?" "Is she Draco's sister?" "Gryffindor? A Malfoy in Gryffindor? That's a laugh!" "Do you think she bewitched the hat?" She sat down next to a girl at the Gryffindor table and studied the grain of the wood intently. She could feel the stare of a million emotions from her brother, her twin, at the other side of the Hall.

As the Malfoy girl was sorted, Ginny Weasley, a first year, had been whispering excitedly with her fellow first years. What a scandal. Glorious scandal. But the girl had sat with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Ginny had planned to sit there upon being sorted, inevitably, into Gryffindor. She surveyed the table. Three open seats, only one near her family, and that was the one next to the Malfoy girl. She began to worry about having to make polite small talk. What could she say? She watched as the two other empty seats were taken by shy new first years.
"Weasley, Ginny," McGonagall said loudly. All her brothers cheered loudly for her. Her heart raced as she stepped up to the hat. As soon as the hat said Gryffindor, she'd have to sit by the Malfoy girl. McGonagall set the hat on her head, and she trembled. "Oh dear, not another one," the hat said, then shouted loudly, "GRYFFINDOR!" Ginny trembled as she got to her feet, her brothers, Harry, and Hermione were all cheering loudly. Slowly, she walked to the open seat and sat down next to the pale blond.
Her brothers all leaned over to give her a pat on the back, and in the chaos, she bumped into the Malfoy girl. "Sorry," Ginny muttered, not wanting to make eye contact, afraid if she did, the girl would send her family after her. Ginny sat down in her chair, keeping her eyes glued to her plate until the ceremony was over, and Dumbldore began his speech.

Student after student passed through the all-knowing sorting hat, getting sent to the various table. As the list wound down a young red-head girl was cheered on in her acceptance to Gryffindor. The whole while, Tiffany was dreading facing her brother, her family, as she was now a Gryffindor. She thought of the scarf and various other hand-me-down accessories her mother had packed into her suitcase, all Slytherin colors. She would have to throw them out now, hide then from her house-mates. Tiffany considered asking Dumbledore if there was a way to change her house, just to please her family of course, deep down Tiffany was excited to be in the Gryffindor house. "Sorry." the young red head muttered as she accidentally bumped Tiffany in the excitement of her congratulations. The girl seemed to have a lot of siblings at the table. "That's alright." Tiffany mumbled back, glancing up for a second to see who had spoken. She noticed the girl avoided looking at her. "Great, this year will be fun, everyone's scared of me." she thought to herself, clenching her jaw in hatred of her pathetically notorious family name. She took a deep breath. "I've gotta a least try to fit in." she thought. Tiffany looked up from the table at the red head who seemed to be trying to stare at her plate until food magically appeared onto it's surface. As Dumbledore began his speech she leaned over slightly and whispered to her neighbor, "I'm sorry if I scare you."

Ginny jumped when she heard a voice in her ear. Her shoulder collided with the jaw of the Malfoy girl, and, under her breath, Ginny cursed herself for being such a jumpy person. "Sorry, again," Ginny whispered. She seemed to be saying that a lot to this new girl. Then she leaned over to whisper in her ear.
"Not scare, so much as confuse, and I don't like to be confused. It makes me uncomfortable." As she was whispering in the Malfoy girl's ear, some hair had lodged in her nose. Ginny tried to brush it away, but found herself sneezing on the girl instead. "Sorry, again," Ginny apologized, her entire face and ears going red now.

Tiffany suddenly felt a pang of regret after being hit in the jaw with the girl's shoulder by accident, and then sneezed upon. Yet, with the desire of making it through the year (and doing that would require a friend of sorts) she continued talking with this seemingly clumsy girl. "If you share with me your confusion, maybe I can clear it." she whispered back, taking careful note not to have her jaw in direct line with the girl's shoulder. "Personally, I'm scared to death." She added.

Luckily, Ginny had been expecting the Malfoy girl to speak this time. Carefully, she leaned over, ensuring she stayed clear of the girl's hair. "I just never knew there was another Malfoy. No one did, I don't think. Much less that you could ever be in Gryffindor. I'm Ginny Weasley, by the way. And I really am sorry." Very carefully, Ginny shifted back to her plate just as the Great Hall burst into applause. She began clapping along, out of habit of following her siblings, more than anything else, then realized that Dumbledore was done with his speech.

Tiffany clapped too, slowly, as a automatic response. She was thinking about the girl's name, she's heard Draco speak of it before. Weasley. Her family was especially NOT fond of these people. Tiffany couldn't see why though, Ginny seemed nice enough. When the clapping subsided and food started appearing onto the table, Tiffany replied to Ginny's statement. "I wasn't let out much, I'm not exactly the...pride of the family. It took practically slave labor to get me here this year, I really should be a second year." She started piling food onto her plate. "That would be why I'm scared to death you see, Draco's been glaring at me ever since that silly hat put me in Gryffindor. I can sense that it's not going to be pretty. They wanted me in Slytherin."

Ginny listened the the girl's explaination as she piled her plate high with roast beef and potatoes, and other tasty foods. "I figured you couldn't exactly be the pride of the family if you were in Gryffindor. I can imagine the glorious scandal we'd have had had I been put in Slytherin. We'd be the talk of the school. What a pair we could have made. A Weasley in Slytherin and a Malfoy in Gryffindor. That would have been really funny. What's your name, by the way?" Ginny replied before stuffing her mouth with the amazing food.

Tiffany smiled a little. "Yeah, that would be quite a scandal. I'm causing one already. I'm surprised you're even talking to me." She took a bite of her roll and chewed slowly. "It's Tiffany. Tiffany Malfoy. Draco's my twin." She took another large bite of her roll, letting it melt in her mouth. She never remembered the servants at home making food this good.

Ginny grinned widly through a mouth full of food. After swallowing, she gulped a large amount of water, Ginny dispised pumkin juice. "Well, between it being rude not to reply and my feeling bad for abusing you earlier I didn't have much of a chance," she joked. "Anyway, I happen to like calling attention to myself. What with six brothers, I've become something of a expert, and what would call more attention to me than talking to you?" Ginny winked a Tiffany with a sly smile as she dug back into her meal.

Tiffany smiled at Ginny, glad they seemed to be getting along. "Well I'm glad you like to call attention to yourself. Usually I don't, part of the reason nobody seems to know about me, but I figured talking to someone was the only way I was ever going to show people I wasn't Draco in female form." She licked some pie off her fork and laughed. "I can't imagine having six of Draco, I might have to kill myself. You have six you say? However do you manage that?"

Ginny grinned at Tiffany, realizing that she was pretty cool once you got past the palness and blond hair that were so like Draco's. "Well, Bill and Charlie don't live at home anymore," Ginny explained matter-of-factly. "Percy can be a bit annoying, because he thinks he's always right, and he's obssessed with following rules. Fred and George are real tricksters, but they stay in their room inventing new, more brilliant tricks all summer long. I probably get along with Ron the best, but he's not the brightest, and that tends to get annoying. It's not all that fun when I have to explain stuff to HIM. I handle pretty well, though. I feel worse for my mum. She has to deal with having Fred and George as her sons. They're twin, and identical. We can hardly tell them apart sometimes." Ginny said all this between bits of food, studying Tiffany for her reaction.

Tiffany smiled, wishing suddenly that she had six brothers as well. "All I have is that self absorbed blond over there. All he wants to do is tell me about all his girlfriends and how many quidditch matches he's won. Likes to brag he does, gets really annoying. Though, my parents adore him for some reason...probably cause he's just what they always wanted." She smirked. "Unlike me. We aren't identical twins like your brothers though, we're fraternal, thank merlin, I don't know how I'd live looking just like him..."

Ginny laughed through a mouthful of water, spraying it all the way across the table to Percy's plate. Percy gave her a stern look before switching it to a curious one when he noticed who she was sitting by. Ginny rolled her eyes and turned back to Tiffany. "Six brothers is quite alright if they're not all alike." Ginny leaned in close to Tiffany and added under her breath, "I couldn't stand having six Percys. I'll have to give him a full report later about everything we said at dinner tonight." Ginny leaned back and gave Percy a satisfied look over the table, knowing it would bug him all night long.

Tiffany smirked. "Ok then. Merlin had bloomers with cute little centaurs and hippogriffs on them. They are silky too, but he also has a woolen pair, for winter of course." She giggled. "Now you can tell him we conversed about Merlin's knickers. He should enjoy that." Tiffany felt a cold shiver go down her spine and she peeked over her shoulder at the Slytherin table. She saw Draco glaring in her direction and shuddered, turning away. "He's mad at me." she mumbled, picking at her mashed potatoes without thought.
