Katherine wanted to get up then and go to her cousin to tell her it was okay, but the girl had lost control of her body. She couldn't make herself rise to her feet and travel that small distance. The tears were still shaking her body, but the pain seemed to lessen as Lucille appologized repeatedly. Kat knew Lucille could be a witch, but she could also be so sweet, and such a companion. And if Lucille appologized, it was a genuine as it got.

(Ooc: You guys...geez. You make it so hard on my characters. Putting Malfoy's in emotional situations. Goodness...Poor Jeremy *huggles him* )
Jeremy was shocked, he hadn't expected this. Now he had two girls crying; he didn't even know how to deal with just one. He sighed and sat on the floor too, feeling uncomfortable standing while they where both having a "moment". He put his face in his hands and rubbed his temple. He felt awkward, like maybe he should be crying too...but Malfoy's didn't cry. He glanced at Katherine's tear-streaked face, then at Lucille's. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna do anything." He sighed, putting his face in his hands again and mumbling, "Even if you were a witch and I'd really like to, upsetting Katherine wouldn't be worth it."
(ooc: *tosses Monica a cookie* enjoy dearie, you earned it. ^^ )

(ooc: ...CRAP! What excuse can I give for Elizabeth's suddenly not being there? ....um....)
Elizabeth blinked. Katherine had shut the door on her, Lucille had snuck in, and Eliza was just standing there outside the classroom, as she had been for the past...who knows how long. After wondering why she didn't go in or intervene Lucille, Elizabeth realized what happened. Shaking the fuzzies from her head, she cursed under her breath, "D*amn wrackspurts..."
(ooc: LOL! There's my petty excuse. Like it? xD)
Eliza pushed her glasses farther back on her nose, straightened her shoulders with a determined air, and opened the door just in time to hear Malfoy mumble "...upsetting Katherine wouldn't be worth it." Her black eyebrows rose immediately. Why would a Malfoy say a thing like that? Things were definitely getting stranger by the minute.
"What, Malfoy? Have you suddenly been smitten silly by the charms of my friend in the span of half an hour, or have you been secretly admiring her all this time?" Elizabeth asked jokingly with a smirk.

Jeremy looked up as the door opened and Elizabeth entered. He'd wondered why she hadn't come in sooner. "What, Malfoy? Have you suddenly been smitten silly by the charms of my friend in the span of half an hour, or have you been secretly admiring her all this time?" She joked. Jeremy felt his face growing hot, he did not expect that. He opened and closed his mouth several times, thinking fast about how to counter that in a way that would take the spotlight off himself and not hurt Katherine. He quickly regained his composure and looked her straight in the eyes. "You think I'm smitten with your friend? Does it matter if I am or not?" He asked innocently, hoping this reply would not upset anyone.

Katherine was finally regaining control of her sobs. It didn't hurt that she was in the middle of a rather interesting conversation. Was Jeremy Malfoy smitten with her, Katherine Longbottom? Was that even possible? Her sobs steadied and tears streamed from her eyes as she followed the conversation back and forth like a tennis match. She definitely hoped Eliza would win. After all, that's what best friends do.

Eliza cocked her head to one side, pretending to analyze him. "As a matter of fact," she said, "it does. Tell me, Malfoy..." Elizabeth boldly stepped right up to Jeremy and stared at him intently. "...What is it that bewitches you about her?" Elizabeth was only teasing him, but she kept her tone of voice very serious. And it was very interesting that she now had the chance to tease a Malfoy about something that may be a bit embarrassing for him. That was rare occurrence, and one she was taking great pleasure in.

His eyebrows narrowed at the question. He could feel all the attention on him, something he usually craved, except for now. His stomach felt uneasy, he didn't like where this was going. He stared straight back at her. "She's good at potions." He smirked, trying to lighten the mood just a bit. "She is also talented in tutoring and helping others." He gestured towards the sniffling Katherine, "She is a witch after all, maybe you should ask her what spell she's cast on me." He tried to smile warmly at them all through his nervousness, he could feel his knees locking and his throat going dry.

Katherine sniffled a little, confused as to whether or not what Jeremy had just said was a joke. She also felt quite embarrassed from the compliments he had paid her. It wasn't often someone said such nice things about a Longbottom, and particularly not Kat. Most people either picked on her or stayed away. She looked from Jeremy to Elizabeth again. "Was that a joke, or were you being serious?" she asked Jeremy. "It was rather subtle, and I'm not sure which it was."

Jeremy looked down at Kat calmly. "I'm not making fun of you if that's what you're asking..." He tried to smile again. His knees ached from being so tense. He glanced at Elizabeth and then back at Katherine's tear-streaked face. He pulled out a handkerchief he had in his pocket and handed it to her. "Here, don't worry, it hasn't been used."

"Ummm... Thanks," Katherine said, taking the handkercheif and wiping the tears from her face. They were almost done now, again. Maybe they would hold off for the next few days. With any luck, she was just clear out. "So much for a relaxing hour of no DADA," Kat grumbled as she fidgeted with the handkercheif.

Elizabeth watched the exchange between Kat and Jeremy in repulsed wonder. Malfoy was acting very un-Malfoy-ish. And Katherine didn't seem shocked by it in the slightest, nor did it look like she minded. Eliza shook her head in bewilderment. Her theory about everyone going daffy and the world falling apart appeared to be coming true. She just didn't think it would happen this soon, nor this abruptly.
What Katherine said brought Elizabeth back to reality. "DADA? Oh, Godric. Professor Creevy has probably realized I'm gone by now... Oh, if Dad finds out I skipped, he'll KILL me!"

Jeremy smirked at her worry. "You can blame it on me if you'd like. Tell them I put gum in your hair or something and you had to get it out." He shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal. "I get in trouble all the time, Creevy probably won't even care." He folded his arms in front of him thoughtfully, glad the topic had shifted away from his romantic interests. "How soon till class is over anyway...I'd hate to miss Lunch."

Katherine looked at her watch, then tried the calculation. "Well, I know that lunch starts at 12:30, and right now it's 11:52, but I can't really do that math. I'm not that skilled." She blushed a little as she studied her hands clasped in her lap. She had never been good at math. Or reading. And her penmanship was terrible. She was such a bad muggle. Good thing she never had to be one. "I do know that that's a long time, though. What are we going to do all that time?"
